Starting Position

From a vertical position in deep water, reach both arms out to your sides just under the water’s surface. Next, externally rotate your hips and lift each knee as the other leg extends straight down performing a jogging in-place motion. Work to keep hip flexion to just below 90°. Scull with your arms to maintain balance.

Exercise Action

This is primarily a warm up conditioning exercise with an emphasis on hip mobility and pelvic alignment.

Maintain a rhythmic and continuous straddle jogging leg action as you scull with your arms to maintain alignment and balance.

Training Tips

  • Engage abdominal muscles and lengthen through your spine
  • Open your chest and keep your sternum lifted
  • Depress and retract shoulder blades and keep the sides of your body long
