Starting Position

From a vertical position in deep water alternately life each knee as the other leg extends straight down performing a jogging in-place or marching motion. Maintain hip flexion to just below 90°.

Exercise Action

This is primarily a Warm Up exercise or return to “center” for active rest and recovery between interval training sets.

As you knee-high jog in a stationary position in deep water extend both arms out to your sides just under the water’s surface and perform a continuous “sculling” action with your arms and hands.

Training Tips

  • Maintain a level chin, level ribs and level pelvis
  • Sink your tail bone toward the bottom of the pool as you reach the crown of your head toward the sky
  • Sculling action is performed with elbows bent and shoulder blades actively depressed
